<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve high-quality magnetic transfer by effectively removing dust adhering to a magnetic disk. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A method for cleaning a magnetic disk performs a face cleaning process of bringing the adhesive face of an adhesive sheet into contact with the flat face of the magnetic disk 10 which has a hole in the center and thereafter exfoliating the adhesive sheet from the flat face to remove the dust from the flat face, and an edge cleaning process of making the adhesive face of the adhesive roller 34 the surface of which is covered with an adhesive material into contact with the outer peripheral edge face 10B and the inner peripheral edge face of the magnetic disk 10, and making the adhesive roller 34 rotate and move on the whole peripheries of the outer peripheral edge face 10B and the inner peripheral edge face to remove the dust therefrom. The magnetic disk after being subjected to the cleaning process and a master carrier carrying a transfer pattern corresponding to an information signal for transfer are caused to adhere to each other and a magnetic field is applied from outside, thereby magnetic transfer is performed.
