<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an independent spindle drive for textile machinery with a simple structure and can be economically produced by improving spindle unit 1 including a spindle upper part 2 equipped with a winding tube receiving part 3 and a spindle shaft 4 that can be rotary-driven, a spindle shaft 4 equipped with an upper bearing 22 and a lower bearing 23, a driving electric motor having a stator and a rotor each separated by an air-gap 61, and a motor housing 31 to house the electric motor. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Provided is the spindle drive including a stator 32 connected to motor housing 13 and a rotor 6 connected to a connecting member 5 of the spindle upper part 2 each connected as not to relatively rotate, a lower part of the housing of spindle bearing 21 inserted in the foot housing 41 with the spindle shaft 4 pivoted by the same, the motor housing 31 located between the winding tube receiving part 3 and the foot housing 41 and connected with the foot housing 41 as not to relatively rotate.
