PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display device for reflection and transmission for maximizing reflective efficiency is provided to improve illumination in a reflective mode and a transmission mode by using an entire pixel area. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal display device(101) for reflection and transmission includes a liquid crystal panel, a first polarized plate, a selective reflective plate, a second polarized plate and a backlight unit. The liquid crystal panel is comprised of the array panel, the opposing board, and the liquid crystal layer. An array panel forms a thin film transistor and pixel electrode(140) in each pixel. A liquid crystal layer is positioned between the array panels. The first polarizer has the polar axis of the first direction located in the opposing board outer side surface. The selective reflector has the optical axis in the outer side surface of the array panel. |
