PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the accuracy of the thickness of a recording medium to be measured.

SOLUTION: An image forming device 10 detects the output value fluctuated according to the thickness of a recording medium to be conveyed at the predetermined position of a conveying passage, and calculates the thickness of the recording medium based on the output value (the first output value) without any paper sheet detected by an output value detection means before the recording medium is conveyed at the predetermined position of the conveying passage, and after the previous recording medium is passed, and the output value (the second output value) with the paper sheet detected while the recording medium is conveyed at the predetermined position.
