摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device wherein large deviation of an alignment direction due to level difference of a band-shaped electrode can be prevented when an alignment film is rubbed. SOLUTION: A columnar structure 60 is formed on a substrate on which the alignment film is to be formed and is rubbed in a direction parallel with a scan line 3a. A cross-section obtained by cutting the columnar structure 60 by a plane parallel with the substrate has a shape having a longer axis defining a direction of a maximum diameter and a shorter axis defining a direction of a minimum diameter. A longer-axis direction of the columnar structure 60 and an extension direction of a band-shaped electrode 9c are disposed being inclined to a rubbing direction, and an inclination direction of the longer axis of the columnar structure 60 to the rubbing direction and an inclination direction of the band-shaped electrode 9c to the rubbing direction are opposite with the rubbing direction therebetween.
