[Class 18.] In a machine for forming collapsed boxes from blanks by folding end flaps on diagonal lines on to folded side flaps and securing them together by adhesive, the folding over of the end flaps completed by rotatable members disposed on opposite sides of the axis of movement of the blanks and having frictional peripheries which engage the partly folded end flaps and fold them on the score lines opposite to each other. As shown, the folded side walls of the blanks are carried under guards 46 as described in Specification 352,468 and the front and rear end flaps are successively engaged by fixed folders 47 which turn them to a vertical position for engagement by the rotatable folding members 49 consisting of disc wheels having rubber rings 60 supported in channels in the wheels. The rotatable wheels are driven at a circumferential speed greater than the speed of the blanks and are carried by vertical shafts 58 geared to a motordriven shaft 56. Final folding of the blanks is effected by angularly arranged belts 50 driven from the shafts 58. |
