An exemplary method (20, 40) of making a fuel cell component (22) includes placing a base material (24) comprising a resin into a mold (26). Active pressure is applied to the material (24) in the mold (26) at a first temperature such that a pre-form (32) is established. The pre-form (32) has a desired shape and a selected pore structure of the fuel cell component (22). The pre-form (32) is subsequently heated (36) at a second, higher temperature to cure the resin and lock the selected pore structure in place. The heating at the second temperature occurs without applying active pressure. |
