The mirror (1) has a housing (2) and a mirror element for monitoring a rearward traffic, and a display device (8), in which a driving direction of a vehicle is displayed. The mirror is connected to a data bus (6) of the vehicle, and satellite-based position data supplied by a global positioning system (GPS)-antenna (9) and a GPS-positioning device (10) is received and processed at a data interface (4). The interface controls the display device under usage of the position data supplied by the antenna and the positioning device during display of the driving direction.
