<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple method for producing a detoxified, dried earthworm powder by perfectly removing fibrinolytic activity-inhibiting substances and toxic substances, such as toxic heavy metals and pathogenic microbes, which are contained within the bodies of earthworms and adversely affect humans, without lowering pharmacological actions inherent in earthworms. <P>SOLUTION: A dried earthworm powder is produced by leaving raw earthworms to stand in the bright place for 10-50 h, stripping the earthworms from dirt adhering to their skins, sprinkling the earthworms with a crystalline hydroxycarboxylic acid powder, immediately diluting the hydroxycarboxylic acid with water to a pH of 2-5, maintaining the material in the conditions for 3-180 minutes, washing the earthworms with water, grinding the washed earthworms, freezing the ground material at -18 to -35°C for 20-240 h, and then freeze-drying the frozen material in vacuo while removing the generated gas. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
