<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an energy converting device, especially a photovoltaic device. <P>SOLUTION: The photovoltaic device includes a substrate; a carbon nanotube structure installed on one surface of the substrate; and a first electrode installed on a side opposite to the surface on which the carbon nanotube structure has been installed of the substrate. The substrate includes polycrystalline silicon.
