<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for protecting an integrated circuit against an laser attack, enabling protection of the major portion of the integrated circuit without significantly extending the surface area of the integrated circuit. <P>SOLUTION: The integrated circuit includes a substrate of a semiconductor material, active areas formed on a first surface side of the substrate, and a protection device against laser attacks.
