PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an axial gap motor that ensures an installation space for a sensor element without fail and contributes to better performance. SOLUTION: In the rotor 11 of the axial gap motor, the following is implemented: the main flux portion 20a of a magnet 20 is bonded on one side 19x of a disk-like back yoke 19 provided so that it can be rotated integrally with a rotating shaft 15; a sensor magnet portion 20b that causes a magnetic field to act on the other side 19y side of the back yoke 19 is formed integrally with the main flux portion 20a; and a Hall IC 31 for detecting the position of the rotor 11 is placed in a position opposed to this sensor magnet portion 20b in the axial direction.
