<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the lowering of productivity due to the tear of paste paper while having conventional advantages of suppressing the lowering of productivity in battery assembling processes due to the separation of the paste paper pasted to an expanded polar plate and resulting fall-off of an active material from a grid. <P>SOLUTION: Five or more recessed groove structures are provided on at least the single face of the polar plate in the vertical direction and in the horizontal direction, respectively, ranging from one end to the other in the vertical direction and in the horizontal direction. The number of intersections between the vertical and horizontal grooves of each of the groove structures is at least 25.
