PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seat reclining mechanism at a low cost by providing two types of free-zone portions having different arc lengths together. SOLUTION: A guide bracket 1 is attached to either one of a seat cushion and a seat back, an internal gear 2 is attached to the other, and the seat reclining mechanism includes a lock gear 3, a rotatable cam 4 for moving the lock gear 3 in the lock direction of engaging it with the internal gear 2 and the unlock direction of not engaging it, and a lock spring 5 for energizing the rotatable cam 4 in a lock rotating direction. In the seat reclining system, a free-zone arc portion includes two types of a first free-zone arc portion 2f and a second free-zone arc portion 2g having different arc lengths.
