<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem, wherein when a line hit reoccurs, while an error frame is being resent, a modem diverges and a rear end of a primary channel cannot be recognized on the receiving side. Ž<P>SOLUTION: From the number of frames normally received in primary channel reception, the number of all the frames transmitted from a transmitter side in preceding primary channel transmission and a primary channel receiving rate in next resending frames, a transmission time for error retransmission frame is determined; a rear end of the primary channel is predicted (S4); and a modem at a receiver side is forcibly shifted to a control channel with the timing of the prediction, to perform re-synchronization (S6, S11). Thus, even when a line hit occurs on a line signal, during V.34 primary channel reception, the rear end of the primary channel is predicted and shifting to the control channel can be carried out appropriately.
