PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zoom lens system including a compact focusing lens group, and having a small image magnification change in moving the focusing lens group. SOLUTION: This zoom lens system includes a plurality of lens groups and an aperture diaphragm disposed in the lens groups. The plurality of lens groups include a focusing lens group disposed on the object side of the aperture diaphragm and moving in the direction along the optical axis in focusing. Further, the zoom lens system satisfies at least one of the condition (1): 1.2<¾f<SB>F</SB>/f<SB>W</SB>¾<6.0 and the condition (2): 0.10<¾f<SB>F</SB>/f<SB>T</SB>¾<1.8, wherein f<SB>T</SB>/f<SB>W</SB>>3.0, f<SB>F</SB>: focal length of the focusing lens group, f<SB>T</SB>: focal length at the telephoto end of the whole system, and f<SB>W</SB>: focal length at a wide angle end of the whole system.
