<p>A medical device comprises a tube (100) to be inserted into a patient. The tube (100) has a proximal end (102A) and a distal end (102B) and provides a first fluid into the patient's body from a fluid source via a lumen (104). The device (100) includes a suction port (114A,B,C), on the tube (100) which is configured to remove a second fluid from within the patient's body via a suction lumen (122). The device includes an inflatable cuff (106A,B,C) that is coupled to the outer surface (103) of the tube (100). The cuff (10SA,B,C) is positioned adjacent to the suction port (114A,B,C) and maintains the suction port (114A,B,C) a distance away from patient tissue. In an embodiment, the cuff (106A,B,C) is cylindrical and has an inner surface which extends from the proximal side (110) toward the distal side (112), wherein the inner surface is tapered such that a diameter of the inner surface with respect to the tube (100) decreases from the proximal side (110) toward the distal side (112).</p> |
