PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive refrigerator enabling preservation of frozen food in a freezing compartment and ice making without supercooling of food in a refrigerating compartment even at outside air temperature below freezing by switching operation control of a compressor to fixed time operation control without expensive components such as a temperature compensation sensor and a temperature controller and achieving energy saving by efficient control. SOLUTION: When operation time of the compressor 4 exceeds a set upper limit value, the operation of the compressor 4 controlled by temperature change of a refrigerator interior temperature detection device is switched to optionally predetermined fixed time control. Thus, this enables continuation of cooling operation even at outside air temperature below freezing and decline to temperature allowing preservation of frozen food in the freezing compartment 2 and ice making without supercooling of food in the refrigerating compartment 3.
