PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve winding detection accuracy in a fixing apparatus, a printing apparatus and a program. SOLUTION: In operation for bringing a heating roll 42B into contact with a pressure roll 42C, the surface temperature of the heating roll 42B is rapidly decreased, so that the same phenomenon as when the failure of winding of the recording paper 30 may occur on the heating roll 42B. Then, abnormality monitoring during the period of a prescribed time from just after the contact between the heating roll 42B and the pressure roll 42C (hereinafter called "an initial period") is not performed.
