The lift (1) has a transport cabin (2) provided with an inner space (10) to accommodate persons. A drive device e.g. spreading tape-drive device, drives the transport cabin in a vertically movable manner between different height levels (11, 12), where the transport cabin is designed in an elevated telescopical manner. A covering (3) is provided under and/or over the transport cabin for covering the drive device. The transport cabin exhibits an adjustably supported door element (6) with which an entrance opening of the transport cabin is locked.
