The drive wheel (1) has a barrel jacket (2) e.g. pulley, operatively connected to a traction mechanism. A hub (3) is rotationally fixedly connected to a drive axle of an auxiliary unit, and a damping device (4) is arranged between the barrel jacket and the hub for controlling torsional vibrations. A cover element (6) is arranged for covering an end area (5) and is connected with the barrel jacket with a positive connection. The element is made of metal or steel sheet. The barrel jacket and the element are provided with a thin section coating. The coating consists of a zinc iron connection.
