<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve its scan performance by enabling the motor drive nearest to the limit of heat resistance and minimizing the down time of a transfer motor. <P>SOLUTION: A motor driver has: a drive motor 35, which is driven with current values that are different by the difference of scan resolution; a calorific value acquiring means 125 which gets the added calorific value of the drive motor 35 by estimating the calorific value of the drive motor 35, based on the drive time of the drive motor 35 in a period when predetermined drive is made, and multiplying the estimated calorific value by coefficients that are different by the difference of scan resolution; a waiting time deciding means 125, which decides the waiting time to delay the drive of the drive motor 35, based on the accumulated calorific value of the drive motor 35 computed from the added calorific value; and a drive control means 122 which starts new drive after a waiting time.
