A tape cartridge handler for transmitting a tape cartridge is disclosed. The handler comprises a base plate for supporting a tape cartridge thereon, a ramp attached to the base plate, a moving deck in translatable engagement with the base plate, and at least one arm having a catch for engaging an aperture in a tape cartridge. The arm is operably connected to and laterally displaceable from the moving deck for movement of the arm between a ready position and a retracted position. The arm further has a displacing portion for slideable engagement with the ramp to laterally displace the arm to position the catch for engaging the aperture in the tape cartridge.
