DESULFURIZING AGENT AND METHOD FOR DESULPHURIZING MOLTEN IRON

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a desulfurizing agent having CaO as the main component with which the agent can be manufactured with comparatively simple method and even in the case of being the molten iron at the low temperature of≤1300°C, the desulfurization can be highly efficiently performed.

SOLUTION: The desulfurizing agent contains CaO-containing powdery material containing CaO as the main component and CaF2, and a solid powdery material which mainly contains Al2O3and SiO2, and solidifies after pre-melting. In this case, it is desirable to use≥5 mass% to≤[100-10X]mass% [wherein X is CaF2content (mass%) of in the CaO-containing powdery material] of the blending ratio of the above solid powdery material or to use a blast furnace slag generated as a by-product when the molten iron is produced in the blast furnace as the solid powdery material.
