PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a mold for molding of tires enabling smooth mold release of a tire from the side mold portion on mold opening. SOLUTION: The tire molding method comprises, while bringing the side mold portion 3 into contact with the outer surface of the sidewall portion of a tire T, bringing the tread mold portion of the tire T consisting of a combination of sectors 5 divided in the circumferential direction of the tire into contact with the outer surface of the tread portion of the tire T so as to vulcanize the tire T. On displacing the sectors 5 outside in the radial direction of the tire after vulcanization, the inner peripheral surface in the vicinity of the engagement surface 5a where the sectors 5 are engaged in the side mold portion 3 is engaged in the tire T, and the outer surface portion Ts of the tire extending over the engagement surface 5a is deformed to make detached from the side mold portion 3.
