<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of achieving a more effective camera shake-correcting function, when a photographic lens with a camera shake-correcting function is mounted in a camera body with a camera shake-correcting function and used, by making effective use of both of them, and to provide a control method for the imaging apparatus. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes an imaging device shift type vibration-proofing mechanism such as a body-side vibration proofing mechanism 233 provided in a camera body, and an optical vibration-proofing mechanism such as a lens-side vibration-proofing mechanism 105 provided in an interchangeable lens 100, wherein first vibration-proofing operation by the imaging device shift type vibration-proofing mechanism is performed during live view display operation (#54), and second vibration-proofing operation by the optical vibration-proofing mechanism is performed during performing photographing operation (#67).
