<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heating apparatus and its control method capable of retaining soaking characteristics even when there is wire-breaking in some heaters in the heating apparatus using a plurality of heaters. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The heating apparatus includes a wire-breaking detection device 12 detecting a wire-broken portion of the plurality of heaters 2, a radiation thermometer 12 measuring a temperature of at least one point on a strip, and a temperature distribution simulator wire-breaking correction device 17 simulating a temperature distribution of the whole strip on the basis of wire-broken portion information detected by the wire-breaking detection device 12 and the temperature of at least one point on the strip measured by the radiation thermometer 13, and correcting output of the heaters around the wire-broken portion detected by the wire-breaking detection device 12 on the basis of the simulation result.
