The method involves configuring a frame such that a set of predetermined variables is transferred into the frame. The predetermined variables, which are changed, are checked. The frame in a data optimized form is transmitted from a communication unit to another communication unit, where the communication units communicate with each other according to a field bus protocol i.e. Foundation(RTM: not defined) field bus protocol. The changed predetermined variables are transferred into the frame in the data optimized form.
