PURPOSE: An apparatus for making ice flakes is provided to form an ice film on an ice making drum which is contained and rotates in a water tank within an ice making compartment and cut the ice film into ice flakes using a rotating cutter. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for making ice flakes ice includes an ice making chamber, an ice making drum(5), and a cutting unit(10). The ice making drum is contained in a water tank within the ice making chamber, and freezes a water film formed on its surface by the vaporization of a refrigerant while rotating by the torque of a drive motor. The cutting unit is composed of a cutter(20) with a plurality of blades and a rotary motor(27), cuts the ice formed on the ice making drum into ice flakes.
