<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicular engine starter having an operation restricting mechanism for use in operating both a knob locking mechanism and an interlocking mechanism capable of being highly stably and reliably operated by a single solenoid. <P>SOLUTION: This vehicular engine starter comprises a rotor 28 rotationally operated through a rotating operation of a knob, a body 12 having an engagement part for use in restricting a rotation of the rotor 28, a lock stopper 50 supported to be slidable in a direction crossing at a right angle with a rotating axis of the rotor 28 and arranged at the rotor 28, a solenoid 100 for use in driving the lock stopper 50 and a control part 300 for use in controlling driving of the solenoid 100.
