<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming system and a control method, capable of efficiently performing a print process and effectively controlling a print controller. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming system 10 at least comprises a print controller 30 for generating image data based on a print job, and an image forming apparatus 20 which performs printing based on the image data. The print controller is controlled by the image forming apparatus. The print controller and the image forming apparatus are connected together by a first circuit 50 for transferring image data and a second circuit 60 to which a client for transmitting the print job can be connected. Initial setting for allowing the print controller to be used by the second circuit is executed by utilizing the first circuit.
