PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide steel for high-strength bolt having strength of≥1,400 MPa excellent in weatherability and delayed fracture resistance characteristics. SOLUTION: The steel for high-strength bolt having excellent weatherability and delayed fracture resistance characteristics. contains, by mass%, 0.3 to 0.5% C, 0.01 to 0.5% Si, 0.2 to 2% Mn, 2 to 10% Cr, 1 to 6% Ni, 0.1 to 2% Cu, 0.05 to 0.1% Al, 0.5 to 4.5% Mo, 0.05 to 1% V,≤0.02% P,≤ζ0.02% S, contains these in a way as to satisfy 0.3Ni+0.5Cr+Mn-Mo<3, and consists of the balance Fe and inevitable impurities.
