PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a molten metal surface detection sensor whose surface is hardly oxidized, capable of preventing conduction failure. SOLUTION: This molten metal surface detection sensor is formed by applying electroless nickel plating onto the surface of a body part made of ceramics to be in contact with or to be dipped into molten metal, and by further applying electrolytic nickel plating thereon. The thickness of the electrolytic nickel plating is preferably 5μm-500μm, especially preferably 10μm-300μm. Hereby, the surface of the body part is completely coated with the plating to acquire an approximately smooth surface, and the sensor hardly oxidized can be acquired. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
