<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To drive a CCD type solid-state imaging apparatus at high speed, and to attain noise reduction. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the CCD type solid-state imaging apparatus that causes a vertical charge transfer path to vertically transfer signal charges during a horizontal transfer term of signal charges on a horizontal charge transfer path and causes the horizontal charge transfer path to temporarily stop horizontal transfer at every pulse change point of a vertical driving pulse for performing vertical transfer, even when temporarily stopping horizontal transfer, a horizontal driving pulse is generated. In a CCD type solid-state imaging apparatus of double-phase driving, a horizontal driving pulse during a temporary stop term is made into in-phase pulse. Since vertical transfer is performed even during the horizontal transfer term, high-speed driving of the CCD type solid-state imaging apparatus is achieved. Furthermore, since a driver current of a horizontal driver circuit is kept at a fixed level even if the temporary stop term is provided, a situation where noise caused by a rapid change of the driver current Idrv is mixed into an analog circuit system and noise rides on a captured image signal can be avoided.
