The axle (6) has a compressed electronic air brake system having a controller (10) and a compressed air container. The axle is connected to the brake system over a power supply line for connection with a power supply of a vehicle e.g. trailer, over a compressed air supply line for connection with a compressed air supply of the vehicle and over two lines e.g. pneumatic or electrical lines, for detecting brake pressure and pneumatic spring pressure of the vehicle. A lift axis valve is attached to a controller of the axle, and a charge carrier system is connected with the vehicle.
