PURPOSE: A digital image processing apparatus and a control method thereof are provided to extract face color information of a person in a captured image, thereby correcting a color optimized to face color information of each person. CONSTITUTION: A digital image processing apparatus and a control method thereof comprise the following units. A face recognition unit(129-1) recognizes a face of a captured image. A color information extracting unit(129-2) extracts color information of a detected face. A color correcting unit(129-3) corrects a color about a photographed image. A controller(129-4) classifies a human race of a detected person. The controller controls a color information performing unit to correct a color to an optimized face color corresponding to the human race.
