<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which restrains a cleaning time from getting longer and makes stable transfer control. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 100 is equipped with a cleaning function for transferring toner left after transfer adhering to the surface of a photoreceptor drum 1 to a paper conveying belt 7 and collecting the toner using a cleaning device 60. When performing cleaning, load resistance of a transfer part where transfer is performed is detected (S126), and rotational speed of the paper conveying belt 7 is controlled on the basis of the load resistance. Namely, when the load resistance is smaller than a threshold A (S127: YES), the rotational speed is decreased (S141).
