PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a road surface state determination device capable of estimating the ease of the slippage of a road surface in travelling as a value of a friction coefficient of the road surface. SOLUTION: This road surface state determination device is provided with a rotating speed detection means to periodically detect rotating speeds of tires of four wheels of a vehicle, a vehicle speed calculating means to calculate the speed of the vehicle by synchronizing with the rotating speed of the tires, a rotating slip ratio computing means to compute a rotating slip ratio of the driving wheel tires of the vehicle, a vehicle acceleration calculating means to calculate the acceleration of the vehicle by synchronizing with the speed calculation of the vehicle, a computing means to compute a primary regression coefficient and a correlation coefficient between the acceleration of the vehicle and the slip ratio of the tires subjected to a moving average, a threshold setting means to set a threshold of road surface state determination in accordance with the primary regression coefficient when the acquired correlation coefficient is equal to or higher than a prescribed value, and a numerating means to numerate the ease of the slippage of the road surface while the vehicle travels from a relation of the acquired value of the primary regression coefficient and the threshold.
