<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an expansion valve capable of stabilizing pressure on the low pressure side and increasing beforehand a flow rate capable of flowing at high load start. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A pressure sensitive actuator 33 is provided. Pressure on the low pressure side of the expansion valve 3 introduced via a through-hole 44 is sensed by a diaphragm 35, and lift of a valve element 28 is controlled so as to maintain the pressure on the low pressure side at a predetermined level. Thus, since the pressure on the low pressure side is stabilized, blow-out temperature of air passed through an evaporator can be stabilized. Since a shape memory alloy spring 41 enables lift of the valve element 28 at high load start, large amount of a refrigerant can be made to flow simultaneously with the start.
