摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus achieving high quality of an image by making accurate execution of density measurement of toner on an image carrier with suppression of variation in output of an S-wave component to a P-wave component in a toner density sensor. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus provided with a sensor for optically measuring the toner amount on the image carrier surface by using a specular reflection light component and scattered light component in the received amount of light. In the image forming apparatus, a value is calculated which is obtained by subtracting an output value S<SB>Af</SB>of the scattered light component for the sensor which is determined beforehand when the image carrier surface is covered by toner and cannot be seen from output values S<SB>A0</SB>and S<SB>B0</SB>for the scattered light component on the surface of each respective image carrier for the sensor which is determined beforehand and the correction subject sensor, and then an output value (S<SB>Bt</SB>) for the scattered light component in the sensor which is the subject for correction is corrected by a ratio (β) of the calculated value.
