<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recorder which prevents a liquid from remaining on an ejection surface of a recording head. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A linear groove 152 is formed in the ink ejection surface 2a where nozzles 108 for ejecting ink are opened. A wiper for wiping the ink ejection surface 2a is installed and moved from a position X1 to a position X2 along a wiping direction while contacting to the ink ejection surface 2a. Thus the ink is raked from a region where the nozzles 108 are opened on the ink ejection surface 2a, and reaches the linear groove 152.
