<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lower the torque based on fluid lubrication by increasing thickness of a fluid film in a lip sliding part. <P>SOLUTION: This sealing device has a seal lip, and the seal lip has an inclined surface on a sealed fluid side, an inclined surface on a side opposite to the sealed fluid side, and an intermediate surface provided between both the inclined surfaces. A screw part for pushing back a sealed fluid with pumping work in rotation is provided in the inclined surface on the side opposite to the sealed fluid side, and a recessed part is provided in the intermediate surface so as to be gradually reduced in depth thereof toward a sliding direction of a counter member. The recessed part is opened in the inclined surface on the sealed fluid side, and not opened in the inclined surface on the side opposite to the sealed fluid side.
