<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved technique for enhancing a personal authentication method using measurement of a retinal blood vessel pattern or retinal blood flow distribution. <P>SOLUTION: A personal authentication method collates at least one of retinal blood vessel image information obtained through an optical method, retinal blood flow distribution image information obtained through laser, and information on temporal changes therein with preliminarily registered personal information. The personal authentication method is configured to collate at least one of the information within a measurement field of view obtained in the direction of the line of sight fixed by a preliminarily registered fixation index with the preliminarily registered personal information. An associated apparatus is also provided. The fixation index for fixing the direction of the line of sight can be selected from a plurality of fixation points, such as part of a character string, part of a still image, or a part of a moving picture, and which of these fixation points should be selected is preliminarily registered. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
