PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester film for a solar cell rear surface protective film, by which energy of a solar ray reaching a rear surface protective film without being used for power generation in the usage environment of the solar cell can be converted into heat energy and silicon supported by the rear surface protective film can be kept at high temperature in a solar cell using the silicon and which has high durability at the same time.

SOLUTION: In the polyester film for the solar cell rear surface protective film comprising the composition of a polyester containing 0.1 to 10 wt.% carbon black, the polyester contains 4 to 20 mol% 2,6-naphthalene dicarboxylic acid component as the constituent component of the polyester to all dicarboxylic acid components.
