<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brake control device suppressing heat generation of a normally closed solenoid valve. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This brake control device driving the solenoid valve (second pressure intensification control valve 7) in order to set to a target wheel cylinder pressure calculated according to the brake operation of a driver, includes a stop determination means (wheel speed sensor 14) determining the stop state of a vehicle, and a control unit CU driving the solenoid valve. The solenoid valve is the normally closed valve arranged at least between a hydraulic source (pump P) and a wheel cylinder 5, trapping hydraulic pressure in the wheel cylinder 5 when the valve is closed, and having a valve element closed in a wheel cylinder pressure applying direction. During stop determination, the control unit CU increases the threshold upper limit of the target wheel cylinder pressure to α2 in comparison with the threshold upper limit α1 of the calculated target wheel cylinder pressure (α2>α1).
