<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly distribute an e-mail stored in a mail server apparatus to a client personal computer via an S/MIME gateway device. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The S/MIME gateway device 20 transmits a second e-mail reception request command to the mail server apparatus 40 (a step S6), and receives e-mails addressed to all the client personal computers 30 from the mail server apparatus 40 also when a first e-mail reception request command is received from the client personal computer 30 (YES in a step S3) in addition to when a predetermined time up period elapses (YES in a step S2).
