<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head-up display device capable of protecting an LCD as a display unit from external light such as sunlight, also, the cost thereof is reduced, and having enhanced reliability. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The head-up display device includes: the display unit 2 that displays an image showing display contents of the head-up display device; a combiner 13 that reflects display light to a driver at the position of a front windshield 12a; and a reflecting means that reflects the display light from the display unit 2 toward the combiner 13. The reflecting means is an EC mirror 3 that becomes transparent when the voltage is not applied to an electrochromic layer E, and becomes reflective when the voltage is applied to the electrochromic layer E.
