<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a temperature detection apparatus capable of reliably detecting temperature sensor failure. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The temperature detection apparatus includes: a temperature sensor 4 of which a resistance value changes according to measured temperatures; a voltage-dividing circuit 5 connected to the temperature sensor for outputting a voltage corresponding to a resistance value of the temperature sensor; a switching means 3 for switching the output voltage characteristics of the voltage-dividing circuit to measured temperatures of the temperature sensor between first characteristics and second characteristics; and a failure determination means 2 for determining the presence or absence of temperature sensor failure on the basis of an output voltage from the voltage-dividing circuit.
