<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a maintenance apparatus for a passenger conveyor allowing the operation of a switch of an emergency stop means to be confirmed in the operating state of a passenger conveyor. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The maintenance apparatus provided for confirming the operation of the switch 15 of the emergency stop means capable of detecting contact with a floor 2 with the lift of the floor 2, comprises a bracket 21 mountable to the floor by screwing a screw 20 into a threaded hole 3; a reaction receiver 22 set to a length dimension shorter than a dimension between a comb 5 and a turning shaft 6b, with one end joined to the bracket and with the other end extended horizontally in the anti-comb direction in contact with the upper face of the floor; and a lever 23 set to a length dimension to at least the twice the length dimension of the reaction receiver, with one end joined to the bracket and the other end extended vertically upward. The operation of the switch is confirmed by this maintenance apparatus in the operating state of the passenger conveyor, and the operation of the switch can be confirmed by a clear physical phenomenon that a footstep 1 stopped.
