Alternative means of inhibiting frosting in the interior heat exchanger of a DX system when switching from the heating mode to the cooling mode are disclosed which may include an automatic valve (1) for directing hot gas refrigerant into an interior heat exchanger (4). The system may also include an improved insulation (28), as well as a protective coating (27) disposed on sub-surface metal tubing (3) when positioned in a corrosive environment.
